Looking Back on the Last Two Months

March 2026: A Winter of Change and Connection

The start of a new year always brings a different pace for our teams at Ryedale Carers Support, and Caring Together Whitby and District. Once the festive glow fades and the decorations are tucked away, January tends to feel a little quieter. But we certainly haven’t been putting our feet up. We’ve been busy getting ready for something we’re genuinely excited about: becoming Caring Together North Yorkshire.

After Christmas, lots of people feel that sudden shift from December’s buzz to January’s calm. Over the past couple of months, our staff and volunteers have been reconnecting with those who feel the winter dip a bit more than others. Whether it’s offering companionship, helping people ease back into their routines, or simply showing up with a friendly smile. We’ve focused on supporting wellbeing during a time that can feel a little lonely.

And then there’s the weather. Honestly — how much rain can one county get? North Yorkshire has been absolutely soaked. The endless downpours have made travelling around trickier and the days feel darker, but our volunteers have kept going with their usual good humour and commitment. From splashing through muddy lanes to checking in on people who find the gloomy weather tough, they’ve shown just how much those small, everyday acts of kindness matter.

Our staff team and trustees have been working hard behind the scenes to bring our services, values, and vision together under our new name: Caring Together North Yorkshire.

This isn’t just a new logo or a fresh coat of paint. It reflects a partnership that has been growing for years — one built on shared experience, shared challenges, and a shared belief in the power of community. Over the last two months, teams across both areas have been aligning how we work, strengthening communication, and making sure that the people we support will experience a smooth, joined‑up service as we move forward.

We’re stepping into this next chapter with real optimism. The winter may have been wet, busy, and a little demanding at times, but it’s also shown the resilience and heart of our community. With our new identity as Caring Together North Yorkshire, we’re looking ahead with fresh energy and a strong sense of purpose.
